She has raised puffy scales all around her eye and top jaw and the slope on her head. It started rasing 3 days ago so I've been medicating but in the last few hours it's gotten really bad. The right side of her mouth seems to not open all the way. She is hiding a lot. She is usually banging against the glass flirting with a male but now she just hides under a leaf.

It looks similar to what a balloon molly of mine had a long time ago. He eventually died. It's not as advanced as his was but it almost looked like a white or pinkish colored brain on top of his face. That's what's happening with her.

Looks like "Dropsy" to me.....

for some other Betta disease information go here, i think its the best site for betta owners/breeders
Bettatalk.com

I know it's not dropsy. No raised scales and I've had a betta with it before. It doesn't really affect the face. It's not "raised" like a pinecone it's raised like puffy. I took pictures of her from every angle to see if any scales were beginning to raise and I didn't find anything.

looks like maybe she have an axcident with her (or his i dont know what you said i forgot) mouth  ... anyways put some fin healing stuff (to prevent fin rot it may help)

good luck

kinda sounds/looks like what my betta has now, i think its a bacterial infection. It took a good 3 days after medicating before he was active again. Is your betta like floating on one side? Maybe swim bladder disease? Bloated can be dropsy, swimbladder or parasite i think cant remember. sorry i couldnt be more of help.

Is there anything at all that she could have cut himself on? What kind of plants do you have- real, silk, or plastic? I know you've probably thought of that before, but I don't know what to suggest. Hope she recovers soon.

Well, she bangs her face against the glass alot. Either trying to get to her boyfriend or trying to get his food. But I doubt that would cause that much damage. I've ruled out dropsy and bloat. She's fat because she's full of eggs just so you know. I know she looks kind of huge in the pictures. She's not laying on her side. Just laying under a leaf. She's still eating. I'm treating it with kanacyn and salt but it only seems to be getting worse. Not sure what else to do but wait it out.

u said.. i know its not dropsy cause of no puffy scales...

but in your original post your first line was...

''she has raised puffy scales''

so i donno what i can say

The fact that she is eating is a good sign. You says she bangs against the glass alot, is it possible the poor girl hurt herself trying to get with her boyfriend?

Sorry I tried to make it clear in that post. I know it was kind of confusing.

Hope she gets better soon too.... Tell her to be strong! :flex:
