Tank size: 2.5 gallons
pH: 6.4
ammonia: .50 (looks like)
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0
tank temp: 70 degrees

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Fish listless, floating on side on top or bottom of tank, color on body mostly gone, all scales sticking out and making fish look spiny

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 10-20% water changse once per week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Small power filter with two sponges. I use NovAqua+ to detoxify tap water for water changes

Tank inhabitants: 1 male betta

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Two small plants. One anacharis, and one short bushy plant that was unlabeled

Exposure to chemicals: None other than NovAqua+
 
poor thing is def ill they loose colour when stressed/ill Im not experienced enough to know what that is off hand though sorry
 
All scales sticking out is dropsy. Usually brought on by poor water quality (with two sponges, I'm not sure why you have ammonia in there) but sometimes it starts with a bacterial infection, and I've heard TB can cause it although I feel like that may be just hearsay. Bettas tend to be very prone to getting dropsy. I would post in the betta forum because they know a lot about what to do with them specifically. They can be sensitive to certain medications. However, if he's that bad off it is probably too late. I recently had dropsy go through a divided tank and kill three bettas. Each one was gone within a day of showing the first sign of sickness.

It he does die, make sure you bleach the tank and everything, and rinse well, before putting another fish in it.
