One of my baby mollies has died :-( and it had a white fungus-like growth on its head. The other mollies are having trouble breathing and are staying near the surface. I have a feeling that petco added salt to their aquariums, but I can't do that because I have a pleco. What should I do? :(

:( sorry your fish are poorly, can you tell me which tank they are in is it the 12 gallon below? can you move your plec to another tank? do you have any measurements for nitrate, nitrite, ph and ammonia, these could be helpful? how long have you had the fish and if the tank below isnt the one they are in can you give the spec of the one they are in and how long has it been going? sorry for all the questions, trying to get the bigger picture.

I haven't had time to test params, but I know for sure that everything is okay... I've had this tank running for about two years and I've never had any problems. Everything stays at zero (with the exception of pH, it's about 7.4). I don't have another tank to move the pleco to. I've started dosing Neosulfex at 1/2 dose, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to save them. :-( Should I move them to a bowl with 50% water changes every day and meds? Should I try some Melafix? Anything to save them. I am trying to set up a 10 gallon long tank to move them into, but it won't be cycled for about a week. Poor babies...

Update:

3 more babies died. :byebye: I'm going to try putting the babies in a bowl with some aquarium salt and water changes every day. Can't think of anything else.

Just a quote from another forum:
"In your tank, though, you barely have any salt (as opposed to others). I know of people who have kept cories and plecos pretty good in 1 tablespoon/5 gallons. "

I added 1 tb (tablespoon) to my tank today (30 gallon) and my pleco seems fine, we will see tomorrow. The guppies actually look better though. :)
