I am wondering if people have pups or dogs that are siblings from the same litter? If so, or if anyone knows about them, is it a good idea? Or is it better to have two different dogs as pups and have them grow up together?

The reason I ask, my parents went to the home of the people who bred Lola, and they picked out two females (i have heard that two females is not a good idea). They won't be coming to my house for another few weeks, but I have been hearing conflicting things from people as to whether:

a. It is good/bad to have sibling pups grow up together in the same house
b. It is good/bad to have two females.

Both will be fixed. To be honest, I don't want a dog yet, and I most certainly don't want one from that family. But my parents are stuck on it.

We were going to get a dog that was 4 months old and living in a foster home, but the people that went to look at her before us decided to take her. Anyway, if anyone could let me know about the siblings and whatnot, it would be appreciated, thanks :)

Some females have issues with other females, but I have 3 females and one male dog, and everyone gets along fine.

One issue is that when they become seniors together, both might start having the issues that older dogs tend to get, so you (or your parents) might have to nurse two senior dogs at the same time (two sets of senior dog vet bills), rather than if they were different ages and you only had one senior at a time. (If that makes sense?)

I have not had sibling dogs, but I have 10month old cats that are sisters and I will never get just one from a liter again. I love that they are young and playful together rather then being a youngin beating up on a grownup, and they have never been apart. They have done everything together, right down to getting spayed the same day. I have always had multiple cats, and never seen two love each other like my girls do.

we had 4 bitches & 1 dog, no probs at all ( 2 of the bitches were litter sisters), the dog used to look after them when they were outside! so wouldn't realy worry about it, they will get on ok :good:

My 2 girls are the best of friends. They love each other so much. They were from seperate litters, there is only 3 months betwen them. Sophie ( the one in my sig) hates other bitches though, she goes all snappy n nasty if one comes near her.

we have had 2 dogs in the past from the same litter and they were fine together (1 *****, 1 dog) :)

thanks everyone. we pick them up on june 17th. my mother chose one that is all gold, and wants to name her sophie my father chose one that is black with grey feet which my father has yet to name. bleh.
