Hi, I just bought a Siberian Sturgeon and was just wondering if anybody knows what their normal behavior should be. My fish, Mad Bob, spends most of his time with his head out of the water trying to balance on his tail like a dolphin or swimming around in a circle with his belly up. Is this normal or is he just a bit mad?? It is hilarious to watch him but i just want to make sure he is ok. If anyone knows about Sturgeons please let me know!!

Thanks!
Camilla

I've never kept one, but it certainly doesn't sound right. They are bottom dwellers and have their mouths on their underside. If it is sticking it's head out of the water, or swimming belly up at the surface, it sounds like it is gasping for Oxygen.

Panic over!
It turns out that Mad Bob is actually Normal Bob! I got a bit worried about lack of oxygen and phoned up a fish centre and they said its just the nature of the breed.
Thanks for your help though
