Hi everyone,

does anyone know where i can find some Siamese Algae Eaters?? (UK)??

thanks

They are noy always available. I would suggest asking Monty at Tri-Mar but for the last couple of days, his site seems to be dead.

I just found some today.

Aquahome in Leyland, Lancs has a tank of them.

They are labelled up as Flying Foxes but the majority are in fact SAEs, with a few false SAEs thrown in. In fact I didn't see a single flying fox in the tank. At £1.89 a pop I got two of them which should shift my hair algae.

Monty's website is up again, (Tri-Mar), he mail orders to anywhere in the UK. He has a few in stock at £4. Don't let the amateur website put you off, he does have some good fish from time to time.

Mine completely ignore any hair algae that I get. They always seem to be nibbling at something though!

Are you sure they are SAEs?

In my experience, SAE's will eat hair algae, but it is not their favourite food item, and they will eat other material in preference. Thus, if you have enough algae of other types to satisfy them, you need to use an additional algae control technique or increase the size of your SAE "herd".

I hardly ever get it and my SAEs seem more fond of bloodworm that anything else!

Just sharing my experience with them.
