I purchased 4x Red Gouramis yesterday along with some other species of fish for my community tank. The other fish have all setlled in, but 3 out of the 4 Gouramis just hide in a corner of the tank, all in the same corner, just idly swimming about. Is this normal?

my two dwarf gourami (Males) used to do that for about 3-4 days, now they stopped and swim arund, but the two females i just got hide in the plants...i think they are a bit shy at the start, but one they start eating, they'll be fine

I agree with you

any luck with breeding the kissing gourami 55 gallon dude?

It'll take some time for gouramis to settle in, up to weeks depending on their company. It might be that they feel a little intimidated by other fish, but that should pass.

By the way, I hope your tank is well planted or has other hiding places, for males will eventually want a territory of their own. If there's two or more males, there might be trouble.

**UPDATE**

I'm happy to report that the gouramis have now ventured out from their corner and are eating properly, and exploring the whole tank - they seem to love riding the stream of bubbles from the 'bubble-curtain' aerator which runs along the back of the tank!
