shy fish

just recently thre was an outbreak of DEATh and my tank and i lost about half its inhabitants. but now everything is healthy but suddenly its shy. is this because the big gouramis that used to float reassuringly around the top are gone? coz if so i will be getting biggish gouramis again coz at the moment all i can see if plants rocks and wood

Did you lose schooling fish? They make the other fish feel safe when they are out. My fish are allways out cuz I have danios and tetras. Before that they weren't out as much.

i lost 4 corys, 2 gouramis, 2 neons and a cherry barb. so what i have now is....

3 neons
4 cherry barbs
4 harlequins

Yup, lots of schooling fish but no schools
