Shutting Down A Tank.

when ive emptied my tank...what should i expect it to smell like? cuz if its bad ill make sure everyone is out the house when doing it.

and im guessing i should wear gloves? you dont know what nasties are lurking i guess

Gloves are never a bad idea. It won't smell great, but the smell doesn't linger much and doesn't really travel outside of the room you're doing the emptying IME. If you think folks might be sensitive to smell, good idea to get them out, but if they're not too bothered by things, they should be fine

it cant be any worse than when i emptied my planted tank and that had 6 months of wet clay in it smelt like a night club ally way

i know money is a wee bit of a problem from your paper round but would you not get your self a wee nano tank that you could start again with and keep some of the rock its not a bad idea if you like rock gobies

yup my mum was the same but i put up the arrgument with her then would fall out then i win good old days lol can you not convince her just to get a smaller tank
