Now I know that shrimps generally are sensitive to meds - particularly copper based ones.

Given that Melafix isnt any more than tee tree oil, I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that it would be safe to add to my tank which has some amano shrimp.

One of my serpae tetras has been nipped on his dorsal fin by one of his mates in one of their constant spats, and the edges of the nip are going a bit ragged, so I thought I'd add a bit of Melafix just to prevent any further spread of the 'rot'.

If anyone else had added Melafix to a tank containing shrimp and had no problems I'd be grateful if you could let me know.

i'm not completely positive but I have a feeling Ian's added melafix to his betta tank before which has some amano shrimp in and they're still alive.

thanks for that miss wiggle

its tank maintenance & water change night tonight, so I'll add some melafix after putting the fresh water in and keep my fingers crossed

aye, i'll attempt to remember and ask him when I speak to him at lunch :)

Hi..
Yes I have added Melafix to a shrimp tank before without any problems at all :)
Infact its the only thing I would use.
Have you tried Primafix? Its 10 x better than melafix:) Same maker. Excellent at anything bacterial or fungal
and for peping anything up thats just been transported. Also works great on sluggish apple snails:0 pardon the punn! :good:

Thanks for that littleme.

I have seen primafix, but not used it - will look it up in more detail next time I see some.

:good:
