Shrimp

hi
i've got a comunity tank,
and i would like to add some Shrimp,
could people pleases point me in the right
direction on which ones to choose,
is there a right or wrong shrimp ?

i have 3 yamatoa shrimp in my 15g

think they are also called ghost shrimp but they are very amusing to watch, eat all the left overs and are very sociable

thinking of buying a few more to increase numbers

Hi,

Avoid anything with pincers as they will catch and eat fish lobsters and prawns steer clear of. There are loads of small suitable shrimp but some aren't often seen in the trade. My favourites are fan shrimp and amano shrimp Fan shrimp are often listed as bamboo shrimp or wood shrimp just look out for their fans as the last ones i bought were labeled prawns.

i got 1 cherry shrimp last week to see if i liked them or not and i LOVE him. they are so cute cherry shrimps are one of the smaller species and they go a lovely red colour instead of just plain seethrough ghost shrimps. i think most shrimps eat almost all kinds of algae so shrimps in general are very cool.

as i always spend more than i think i should.lol
need some more pennies.
do fan shrimp need any particular food
or will they eat what is provided for the fish ?

Hi,

I have 5 fan shrimp in my 180 litre and feed the tank flakes, shrimp pellets, catfish pellets and algea wafers as well as occasional live and frozen food, they tend to climb up bog wood and rocks and stick their fans out to catch any floating bits, they also root around in the sand and pick bits up from there.

well i will be floating around pet places
as a need of urgencie now,as i have
discovered my bird seed has moth maggots in
so maybe i'll pop into a fish shop,if i'm lucky.
