The last couple of days I noticed what at first looked like dead shrimp, but then I realised it was a shed skin.
Should I leave it in the tank, do they eat it? Or should I take it out

i think you should leave it. I am sure that they eat it.

Hi there, yes either the shrimp (or snails if you have any) will usually consume it to retrieve nutrients and calcium etc.

Thank you, I'll leave them in then, for a few days at least & see if they eat them

They will eat the shed shells, infact they will often search them out. The shed shells/ skins in my tanks never even get a chance to make it to the filter in take, unless the shrimp shed right beside it and even then the other shrimp will go to the filter inlet and eat the shell off the cover guard.
