Question 1:
do shrimp eat blue green algae?
Question 2:
I am having some really unlucky purchases with shrimp. The first group of shrimp I bought is doing great. 3 out of the 4 big algae eating shrimp have made it. They have been in the tank for about 4-5 months. I have however tried to get a variety of shrimp in the tank and they are not making it. I tried some Rudolph Red-Nosed shrimp (http/www.azgardens.com/p-212-scavenger-shrimp-rudolph-red-nosed.aspx) none of which made it. Then some blackberry shrimp and none made it. Also some cherry shrimp. The cherry shrimp a couple lasted a couple months but most didn't make it.
Now most of these shrimp have been added sparadically and not all at once. The tank is a 24 gallon nano cube. there is drift wood, 2 big amazon swords, and 3 anubias plants scattered about the tank. There is ample places to hide. Water conditions have been acceptable about 99.9% of the tanks life. I am using mostly R/O water with a bit of city water mixed in.
Any ideas or thoughts?
