Posted this in my journal post, but thought more appropriate here..

Question for you all. I'm having issue with brown algae on plants (not on the glass, which I find odd), and I was thinking about adding some amano's to help with this. I assume being shrimp, they won't add much bio-load? My main concern is if my fish will eat them. List as follows...

Diamond Tetras
Black Phantom Tetras
Bolivian Ram
BN Pleco
Pictus Cat (the one I'm concerned about)

What do you think? Would it work or should I just stick to gently rubbing my plants at WC?

Shrimp can help with minor algae problems but the pictus catfish will eat small fish or shrimp.

That's what I figured. Stupid thing is becoming the bane of my existence.
That pictus will grow bigger, too....anything that will fit in it's (growing) mouth is fair game...

Of all the fish its the only one I would love to rehome. But it's my son's, and the very first fish in the tank so I can't. Instead, I get to buy a larger tank and build around him rather than build something else I would want. The things you do for your kids...

That's the way to do it.
You now officially have MTS. Welcome to the dark side

Preaching to the choir, my friend....;)

My daughter is grown and moved out now, but I do remember those days well...

Oh I'm all for MTS. I set up a nano tank in my office at work. I'm in the planning stages of a 90g or 125g (working out loads and structure to see where I can put it, and of course saving). Just wish it was a blank canvas with no starting point rather than the pictus plus 4/5 more and building around that.
