So I bought an aqueon evolve 2 gallon for my betta fish, but didnt like the setup at all. I had to remove the harsh filter for a tom internal 2 stage filter, close off the back portion of the tank, and put in a heater. Overall, it left me with 1.5 gallon space to work with. So I decided to setup a shrimp tank for the first time. I plan on cycling my tank, and after want to know what I need because I am COMPLETELY LOST!Please help!

It depends on the shrimp you want.

Cherry shrimp and its relatives (snowball shrimp, blue pearl shrimp, rili shrimp) have different needs than Crystal shrimp, green shrimp, or Bee shrimp.

Cherry's and their relatives are the sturdiest and most easily bred.
I have a 5 gallon shrimp journal you can view here to get some ideas

Thanks for the reply! I was planning on using either cherry shrimp or ghost shrimp in a species only tank. I depends which one I chose based on how easy it is to care for that specific species (easiest). I don't plan on breeding, so its either a female only or male only tank.

That is going to be dificult to achieve. Cherry females are bright red, have "saddles" and wider tails. Males have skinny tails, no saddle, and are clear with red blotches. It will be hard to tell them apart in a store, and if you buy online they will most likely ship males too.

Ghost shrimp are hard and/or don't breed in freshwater. But cherry shrimp are prettier. It's up to you :good:

I would choose cherry shrimp, since they are very pretty. I heard that sometimes you can tell male over female, because the females are larger and redder. I didn't know if this was true. I plan on buying them from my local fish store and will probably get a mix, oh well. I was wondering any suggestions for plants to put in the tank ( I herd they like marimo moss balls ) . I don't know if the LEDS are strong enough on the aqueon evolve 2.

You could always sell the babies, make a quick buck or two

LEDs should be fine in 2 gallon, just stick to low light plants like anubias nana, dwarf hairgrass, any kind of moss, and java fern :good:
