lookin to buy one of those shrimp houses - with the tubes - on ebay. should i go for the 6 tube 2 cm diameter one, or the 10 tube 1 cm diameter one? the shrimp are amanos, wood shrimp and small bee shrimp.

1cm will suit only the smaller shrimps like bees and cherries. Amano and wood shrimps get fairly big so IMO a 2cm one is more appropriate.

I've never really seen the point in these shrimp houses. Do they actually use them. My shrimp dont really hide as such.

 I'm sure they will explore like anything else in the tank but as for hiding..... they might do during moulting I guess or if you have other fish in the tank but I have no idea since I've never used one

I bought one for each of my shrimp tanks, and placed them 'angled' so that I could look down each one and see who was in residence. Big fat zilch! Cherries and CRS are all over the place, swimming and crawling but never hiding. Three of my four species of long arm shrimp like somewhere to hide, but not in shrimp houses. Even my fan shrimps, who are quite secretive when not feeding, would rather sit under a leaf than in their specially designed home. Save your money and buy a bogwood arch – they are popular.

Haha me to, it cost quite a considerable amount aswell, but it is never used, and its size is ridiculously small!
