Just a quick question please. My amano shrimp has loads of black things underneath her body attached to her legs (or they seem to be on her legs). My question is: are these eggs? and how long before they drop off? I know they wont hatch but she seems to be trying to get them off and they've been there for days. thanks

See this thread of mine on Amano breeding etc. which might help you.
Mine was carrying eggs for a good almost 2 weeks from start to finish. But they were never black.

Thanks Bloo, thats exactly what they look like but mine are black. She's eating and moving about ok so I'll just have to keep an eye on her. Hope they're not rotting or something and eventually kill her.

you might find that it isnt an ameno shrimp but another breed. the wont kill her. just wait and see.. Have you other males in the tanks so the can fertalise the eggs??

Hi fozzy_wozzy_woo, they were sold to me as amano shrimps and look exactly like the pics i've seen of amanos. Just seen her again and she still got black eggs. I don't know the difference between male and female, but i have got about 5 others in my tank.
