Shrimp Eating Hermit?

Am confused, I saw my shrimp with a blue and orange hermit, pretty much look liked he was eating him. Are molts the same colour as them? Like my crabs are blue and orange, would there molt be blue and orange or would it be clear?

If its clear I guess my hermit died and my shrimps eating it, unsure why he'd die though.

Molts look exactly like the crab except that:
- The eyes are usually clear (really hard to see on small individuals)
- There is no bulky soft body behind the carapace. You'll get just some whispy/fluffy stuff attached at the back. Of course, that assumes the soft body hasn't been eaten already.

All I saw was the front of it and what looked like white fluffy stuff at the end, Is that a molt then? Will my hermit be hiding somewhere? Cause the other hermit made off with his shell lol, is why I thought he was dead.

Sounds like a molt and also time to check the tank for any naked crabs - in which case more spare shells are in order.

The shells need to be slightly bigger and roughly the same shape as the current ones. If yours are in Cerithid shells then those would be fine if they're a bit bigger, but I can't tell the scale from the pic. At any given time there should be a few spares.

EDIT: bigger as in the aperture's size I mean

There alittle bigger and are almost like the ones I have only a cool colour.

I'll see how they get on with them.
