Can you FULLY submerge your spraybar filter under the water and have no air stone in a shrimp tank?

Or would you need the spray bar splashing in the water to make oxygen?

Shrimp only tank, no fish...

Cheers :good:

I've done this on my girlfriends axilottle tank and it might be suitable for what your asking,

If you remove the stop plug form the bottom of the spray bar, and invert the bar so its half in the water half out (like a regular down-pipe) your spraybar will pull Air through it's usual spray holes.
This will inject Air directly into the water whilst still filtering. Hope thats of help!

Yes you can submerge it, gaseous exchange still takes place regardless of whether there is surface movement or not, agitation just makes it more effective.

I understand you have plants too so they'll be producing oxygen also.

Awsome, yes I have quite alot of plants and recently just got a load of floating plants from a fellow forum member, but the spray bar just kept pushing them under water and spreading them everywhere!

So I put the spray bar under the water slighly so there not being draged under.

Sounds ok?

hi, you can really do both, I always keep my spray bar in the water for my crystal red shrimps, and have no oxygen problems.

Sometime is better to have a under, because if you keep it up water splash everywhere.but it really up to you.

It won't make much different in oxygen level, the shrimps will still be fine.

if you into plants as well you can have a look a www.aquashrimps.co.uk

hope this help
