I've read somewhere that if shrimp spend a lot of time swimming around, it's a sign they're stressed.

Mine tend to do this for a couple of days, then are very stationary for a week or so, then back to swimming constantly for a couple more days.

Is this normal?

It's probably mating behaviour. If you see the males chasing the females, then it's most likely that a female has just shed her shell/skin and ready for mating.

Sounds normal :good: The female shrimp will give off pheromones every month and so the males whizz around wildly trying to find her.

Interesting.

I have two females and one male. The male is much less active, its usually the two females that do circuits of my tank!
