Well if i wait until the summer i could get a 40x18x12 tank, with a V2 skimmer and 10KG of LR (reef). If i do it now it will be a 24x12x12, Just FOWLR. I was thinking to wait until july, then i have 6 weeks off of school to set it up and get it started. (then back to my 1st year at 6th form, same as college). Also my birthday is 4th july so i can get extra things for the tank. Also in 6th form i may be able to get £30 a week. Can pay for salt more LR corals. Fish etc. Also the 24x12x12 will become a sump. I can research and make the sump.

What do you guys think?

As always you know what you want to do if you really think. 10kg would be spot on for a 20 usg but don't think it would be enough for the larger tank.

If it was me I think I would setup the FOWLR in the small tank then when you can upgrade I would drill the tank and blank the hole temporarily. Transfer the FOWLR to the larger tank then setup the sump and plumb it in. This will give everything chance to mature and if you transfer everything underwater you should avoid a minicycle.

i see your in a bit of a predicament i mean a bigger tank would be nicer buut you can start that 20glaon now. Depends if there is something you desperatley want to go into a bigger tank and how long your willing to wait coz thats a fair wait. But then youll also be able to do it with all the funds. hmmmmm i rekon go bigger :good:

yep i`d wait and save and research......

wait til the summer, it really makes sence....
you`l be able to get the bigger tank, wich will be more stable,
aswell as having time to dsave for more stuff

20 kg for a 20gallon ?! sorry but i think that is waaay too much i mean people say that 2lbs per gallon is probably the max let alone 2kg that equals about 4.35 lbs per gallon
-_- Where did you get those figures from he said he was getting 10kg which be spot on for a 20usg tank but the tank he has is 15 usg (just under) so 7.5kg would be the recommended. Rule of thumb being a minimum of 1 lb per USG (1½ lb's being recommended or 2lb's max) but in the UK LR is sold in KG so work to 1kg per 2usg. However 10kg in a 15usg would be 1½ lb's per gallon nowt wrong with that, however for the larger tank more LR would be required roughly an extra 5kg (15kg total). Just my pennys worth :good:

just wanted a second opinion, THanks. Also i will have time to fix up my FW tanks. They need some redecoration
