Should I Run My Skimmer

i have put my tmc v2skim 400 into my tank to make sure it works, do i actually need to keep it running as i am just storing my LR at the moment, nothing else in the tank is going to produce much waste at all only a few small snails that i can see

If there is any die off it will keep your nitrates down, certainly can't do any harm mate, I kept mine running on my LR when it was in a bath prior to going into tank and it sucked out a fair bit of gunk and gave a chance for me to play with the skimmer set up.

its the playing about with the skimmer that prompted the question..... it's doing me swede in arrrgh

With my Deltecs I had to wind the air intake back for a week or more until it settled. Not sure what the science is behind it but just seems to take a while to adjust, both now running on full blast but if I had done that originally they would have been filling the cup and bubbling over in ten seconds flat.

my instructions tell me turn the pump on full and set the adjustable water level wotsit down to minimum but then the cup just fills up once within a couple of minutes i toyed around with bits and pieces and had it running what i thought was smoothly then BANG it was like i'd dropped an alka seltzer in there foaming like a rabid dog and filled the cup to overflowing again, i've now shortened the connecting pipe from the pump and its calmed down a little more although i have also reduced the flow coming through the pump but there's still about an inch of water in the cup, was about 1/2 inch an hour ago so i imagine by morning that my cup shall overfloweth...... oh deepjoy, this is 2nd hand so it's not like it needs bedding in time or will it

Mine both 2nd hand and yes still needed bedding in, don't ask me why baffles me? My TS1250 was a nightmare, personally I would wind the pump down a little and increase gradually every couple of days but others may have more model specific advice for you.
