I want to add water to my tank as the waterline has gone down a lot from evaporation, but I'm also cycling it with safestart. I know that every instruction says not to do a water change, and that I've been told a lot that seachem prime (my dechlorinator) could affect the safestart. I left a bucket of some prime treated water sitting out overnight with my little heater in it. This morning the heater (fully submerged) was practically overheating, but the water was really cold. Should i temporarily move the heater from my fish tank into the bucket to heat it up, or is it okay to get new tap water at the right temp and treat it, then put it in without waiting?

Yes you can use new water. Only add enough prime to treat the new water - not the whole tank.
As an alternative you could stand your bucket in a sink / tub of hot water until the water temp reaches the desired value. That is the way I do mine in winter.

I use warm tap water, put it in my tank and quickly dechlorinate it with Prime :) I find this easy and less complicated, but that is because I'm a person that loves easy life lol

The only down side to that is you then need to add enough prime to treat the whole tank. If you add the prime to the bucket you only need enough for the bucket, so less chemicals in your fish.

Yeah.. I didn't think about it... I'm using always 5ml of Prime to treat the whole tank. How much of Prime should I use for a 5 ltr bucket?

The dose rate is 5 ml in 50 gallons, or 5 ml in 190 litres.

For 5 litres you need 0.13 ml. A 1 ml syringe is the way to dose that amount.

I use API Tap Water Conditioner. The dose rate for that is 1 drop per gallon/3.8 litres. My bucket holds 8 litres so I put 2 drops in the bucket then add 7.5 litres water.

You'll have to check the label. I use RO water so have no need for dechlorinator.
