Hi everyone:

Question:
My two bronze cories where in my 20gal community tank w/6 othe cories. All my other cories where happy except my bronzies.
I did not put them in an observation tank when I first purchased them (I know, STUPID) and just put them in my 20g.
I then had two fish deaths (one cory and my very loved Gourami -Elvis :byebye: )

So I though: strange new fish behavior + 2 dead fish = new fish speading illness to my tank.
So I took out the bronze did a water change. I put the 2 bronze fish in a unfiltered 1.2 gal tank that I used for my old betta. I look over and they are happy and playing in the small tank and EATING. They did not do this in the 20g.

Should I leave them in the 1.5 since they like it ???

Hi cherrybarbbaby :)

While your two bronze corys might be happy at the moment, their little unfiltered tank will soon become polluted and they will become sick.

Please put them back into your big tank and watch them there. If there is any sign of illness, you can deal with it at that time. If you leave them where they are they will almost certainly become ill.

When you put them back, make sure that the water temperature is the same so you do not put them at further risk.

Please let me know how they are doing from time to time. :D

Hi Inchworm:

I will put them back, they will just have to learn that their new home is a safe place.
I just feel bad that they are not happy
Thanks for the reply.

Hi cherrybarbbaby :)

They'll get used to it, but it might help if you get one or two more of them since they like to school. But, wait until you are sure that they are healthy before you add any more.

It will be good, too, if you have a cave for them to hide in and get out of the brightness of the light on your aquarium. If you have low growing plants that will give them some shade, that will work as well.

The important thing now is to observe them for a week or two to be sure they are in good health. If you see any sign of a problem, post back right away.

Good luck with them!
