My molly has got popeye, just in 1 eye. it wasnt there lastnight and she looked fine but when i came home from work it was inflamed and had the white film over it. none of my other fish are sick or ill. and i havn't done anything defferrent to my tank. But i do know that my balloon molly chases her from time to time and she does tend to bump into things.

should i get some popeye treatment or should i just leave her be and see what happens incase it was just from bumping into things? i havnt got any pics at the moment but i will try and get some ...

thanks,
Leann

I think I'd wait.Popeye often disappears on it's own...just be sure to keep Nitrates low.

yer well i just cleand my gravel yesterday so i did nerly a 25% water change then and i did another 10% today so i will just keep doing a 10% water change but justi will go out tomorrow and buy Waterlife Myxazin just incase the problems continue. can u use that treatment onthe full tank? even if the other fish dont have popeye?

Hey,
just to let you know that she has started to act a little weired she now just prefers to be on her own and hovers around corners of the tank,
but her eye has gone down soo much i was shocked when i seen her this smoring. it looks like she never had popeye!

but the only thing noticable is a little white film over her eye. but its not poping out as much anymore looks like it has gone but i dont think that would of happend in 1 day. but am 80% she is blind in that eye. she has trouble catching food :( .. still am gunna pop out and get some treatment just incase

Cloudy eye is a symtom of a desease not a desease in its own right.
Causes.
Bad water quality.
Stress.
Old age.
Poor diet.
Parasties.
Bacterial.

Keep going with the myxazin though it says it controls popeye what ever that is meant to mean.
I would of gone with anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

am fed up. every 1 is 'Pointing the finger' anyway. a just feel sorry for the fry i have :(

ok, i would treat it.
one time my 20 gallon tank got it and i did the same thing (left it alnone)
a few weeks later, i had 90 percent of my fish dead, and now, there is all kings of fungus, bactiria, and parasites!
all of these are being treated.

She looks sooo bad now.. all fluffy, puffy eye's (ever so slightly) and sad :( she cannit eat coz she is blind in 1 eye.. a just feel like putting her out of her pain but i don't have the heart to do it.

Ok...is the tank cycled? If not, the stress to the fish may be the source of the problems. If it is cycled, these problems are not that bad. The film over the eye may well just clear up on it's own, if it is connected to the "cloudy eye". It doesn't necessarily mean that the fish is blind in that eye. Again, it's important to continue with regular water changes, and keep water pristine. Test your water for Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates. If you don't have a kit, some pet stores will test it for you, free. What other fish are in the tank?

had my tank for over a month now..
a ran out on my test kit a few weeks ago.. was just a mini 1.. and i went crazy on testing it  .. all my LFS seem to be dry on them at the moment but i havnt done anything abnormal! am gunna try and get another tomorrow.. i have 2 female dalmation molly's (1 is the infected) . 1 male balloon molly.. 2 female platy's (1 is a high fin mickeymouse) 1 male platy. 10 fry. 2 random snails :S which i will put in the garden tomorrow as they are annoying now and i didnt want them. none of the other fish seem to be unhappy :S all i know is sometimes my males like to chase eachother (but not fight) and then they chase the females.but not fight either maybe just a nip here and there. i saw my 2 females fight 1 time but no injurys they just was going round and round and round in circles then split and went back to doing normal things. my fish are picky too. male platy doesnt like the colour orange very much the balloon doesnt like white too much  i always get the dodgy fish :(

Well, Mollies can be a little nippy, as can Platies. At least they're not hurting each other. When you get the test kit tomorrow, check the water, and post the results. I'm thinking the tank is not fully cycled...Fishkeeping gets easier as you go, so don't get discouraged! BTW...how big is the tank?

its 7 gal. so that should be ok shouldn't it? about 1 inch 2 each fish per gal?.. i clean it every other day (partial water changes 10%) and vac the grave once or 2 time's every 1 - 1.5 weeks. .. and av only cleaned the filter tube's (that come from the filter) av took the filter apart and checked for blockages but nothing so left it. and my orniments i just give a little rub/shake in the tank water from the grav vac. and i do use safewater. my tank is a aqua start.. and i live in a area with a good quality ph level in the water.. the ph that comes from my tap can be from 6.9 - 9. i remember when i had my kit my water came out at 7.8 .. everything else is a blur am affraid :(

hey all i bought some Protozin and some Myxazin but i decided to use Protozin first as white spot can spread faster ... but it says on the bottle that i have to turn off my oxidizer pump but for how long :S its been off now for 4 hours ? when can i turn it back on? as my loach's need it!
