Hi, im new to catfish and not sure the compatibility with these and other fish.

The shop has 2 striped Raphael and 1 spotted Raphael catfish. They are both priced around £7.

I have a 100 litre tank with a few guppies and some full size White clouds. Also plenty of hiding places such as plants fake rocks and bogwood.

Would this be suitable set up for either of these fish? im looking to get an interesting bottom feeder.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone have any advice? I'd love to get this little guy, he is around three inches at the shop at the moment, slightly bigger than the striped pair he is with.

Hi,
The tank is a little on the small size and in reality if you are only looking to buy one then it may not be worthwhile, on there own you will Very rarely see them as they are highly nocturnal, atm I have 2 Spotted and 1 Striped and I have todrop food in at 10-11pm in the evening just to get a glimpse of them, when i had just one spotted raphael i would see it about 3 times a year, (no joke)

There is also a small chance that small fish will be seen as food

This is certainly true for Juvis, but i had one for about 6years and it was out and about all day everyday, i think with these fish it may depend on tank mates and on how secure they feel in their surroundings.

Hmm its very tempting. I believe that the spotted don't get as big as the striped? Thats why i thought this might be suitable.

There isn't really anything too aggressive or boistrous in the tank, just a few guppies and White Clouds.

When you say small fish, do you mean baby fish? My minnows are fully grown and there are a few teenage guppies but they won't be like that for long obviously. I'm guessing these would be too big for its mouth?

Good job i didn't get one in the end then, went with a cracking little zebra loach instead.

Any one got any good suggestions of a plec that would be suitable in a 100 ltr?
