I have a common pleco and it seems that he isn't getting enough food I feed him one algae wafer every other day and it still seems like he is still hungry. Should I feed him one wafer one day then the next give him half a wafer and go back and forth like that or what?

My Pleco is about the same size as yours and he eats one algae wafer a day. He could also eat other food I put in for the other fish such as bloodworms, brineshrimps etc but he does not seem interested. He loves the algae wafer. :) He/she has a nice round tummy so must be eating enough.

Thanks, I was just wondering since he/she stomach is just flat.

Having a flat stomach isn't always a bad thing :) As long as it doesn't look sunken in, I wouldn't worry

I do however think it couldn't hurt feeding 1 algae tab/wafer a day, and skip it one day a week to feed him cucumber/aubergine.

Ok thanks I was just worried about feeding him everyday because the last time I did it turned my water cloudy then green.

I just read the back of it and it says t won't cloud the water if fed properly so maybe the time it clouded was because he didn't eat it all and I didn't realise it then I put another one in thier. But this was when he was smaller and was in the 10g with 3 black tetras.

Hi, I feed my Pleco Hikari wafers and they do not cloud the water. If he leaves any the other fish eat it! They are Mollies, greedy little piggies. :)

Well my tetras won't touch it at all because I believe that they finnaly got in their little heads that his food is for him only becauase they used to do it but if they did he would chase them away and they learned their lesson.

If they get close while he is eating he swishes his tailfin at them! I usually feed the fish flakes first, then sinking pellets (just a few) then last of all the algae wafer. When I put treats in such as bloodworm, brineshrimps or daphnia I do that after the pellets and before the wafer. I have also tried cucumber and lettuce but they all ignored it and I ended up having to fish out a soggy mess. There is one particular plant in the tank which they all like to eat, the pleco hangs upside down in the water to eat it. I will try and get a picture of him doing that to post, it looks very funny! :)
