My first post.
I am looking to get back into fish. I had a 55 gallon fish tank as a child but now I know why my fish did not survive very well LOL. I have small children and my youngest bought a 1 gallon tank with her own money and is hooked. I really love learning and this site has been a excellent source of info. Wish I had this as a kid because I have made all the mistakes. I think I want to go with a bigger tank and this one is for sale. Looks good but I do not know what to ask the seller to really understand what I am getting. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help. From reading this site I am going going to ask him how many watt lights he has because I want a lot of plants and enjoyed the basic plant article. I have hard water (live in the country) I have not really decided on any fish yet but the tank owner suggested a flag tail fish but that is as far as I have gotten. Here is the description of the tank. Should I worry if this thing is going to spring a leak and are they easy to fix? Should I buy a new tank? Is the price OK? Any help is greatly appreciated.

210 gallon fish tank with stand, light, filters, heater, driftwood, gravel, flat rocks...everything you need, just add water!! $800.00 cash or best offer

Sounds like a good deal :good:

Whats the dimensions of ? sounds like a monster sized tank.

You sure it's 210 gallon not ltrs. The bigger the tank the more stable the water peramiters will be, after cycling that is. Huge tank.

I'd say it was gallons wouldn't pay 800 for a 210lt tank.

210 US gallons is 800 litres, give or take, by any reckoning that is one massive tank. It must be 210 litres, in which case it's probably a bit over-priced.

I am pretty sure it is 210 gallons. it is 7 feet long and looks very big. Can anyone help with the questions?

I believe it must actually be 6 feet long, not 7. The dimensions of a 210 gallon tank are 72 x 24 x 29" which is actually 217 US gallons or 821 liters according to this site's calculator.

This is a standard size tank but it is massive no doubt! I've seen them before & I found this one online:

As you can see, you could get a new one for that price, without all the extras of course but maybe you should offer him $500-600 and see what he says.

The first step would be to make sure the room is solid where you plan to put this massive tank. Older homes/apartments are sometimes a bit flimsy. This is a very heavy tank, needless to say. Does the cabinet look stable & a style you like?

The next thing is to learn about the filtration system, heating, etc. Like you said, the lighting is also important, especially if you want plants. That's a very deep tank too so getting the light to penetrate to the substrate might be important depending on what plants you want.

I'd say the options are unlimited for stocking, it depends what youy like.

You should reallu go for it. I bet it would be a great addition to yuour home.

Bargin mate if its 210 gal, i would make sure that its really what you want might be hard to re sell if you decide in a couple years you dont want it cuz of its size :D
