Did a littel experiment last night.

Used a 1Litre Plastic Lunch box and caught the butterfly and placed him in it. Was fine after looking around it.

A few mins Later caught 1 of the Neons that were small enought for him/her to Eat(HOw do you Sex Butterflys).

Left them all Night.

Took a look this morning before going to LFS.

The buttefly has not touched the NEON at all, and the butterfly happily swam off to his spot in the floating Plants.

Neon rejoined the Shoal and carried on as if nothing ad happened.

Result of this:
Fish are not always what they seem, I am Sure someone said that Butterflys woudl eat smaller fish or anything they can get in their mouth. Also Since doing this the Butterfly is becoming more active and is exploring the tank more and going down to the bottom to investigate the substrate with his feelers and flicking up any bits of food it finds.

He does look ike an evil fish but is a gentle giant at heart.

Butters as He is now named.

Butters likes a shadier tank. I noticed when the main light is turned off and i put a table lamp next to the tank.

So I have placed a Peice of Colored Perpex under a section of lighting to create a shadier part, he spends most of his time in that part now.

Also found an old water feature in the garage.
1 of those ones on slate with pots. have cleaned it up and smoothed any rough edges and placed in tank.

The kuhlis love it, they climb thru the pots and then down the pipe hole to get to the main chamber and you can see them doing peek a boo from inside the pots. The Loaches are a bit miffed as they can't fit in there.

Volcano slate is still in hot water to remove anything, and will start landscapaing it later in the week. will get that laser pack to illuminate it with.

Mate of mine works at a glass manufacturing company, they make all kinds of glass from windscreens to shower doors to light bulbs etc etc.

Anyway he has put aside for me alot of glass that they dont use from cutoffs and what not. I took a look at it and it seems real good quality glass however the size seems abit daunting.

Although this would be my dream size aquarium, is it really comprehandable for fish etc.

Size i would get from this is about 2.5 metres long, 1.5m high and wide. This im thinking off the top of my head is around 6000 litres?!

If i go ahead (saltwater btw), I would be running 2 external pumps, sand/gravel, will need at least 5-6 heaters?!, who knows how many undergravel filters and charcoal filters attached to the glass.

Invisible dividers to seperate fish that dont get along together, im sure ill have enough space to mix every species in the one tank, however would something this big work? Would the tank stay clean cause cycling 20% of this water will take a lifetime, is the tank depth way to big?.

Basically what are the consequences if i go so large. I dont have alot of time per week to spend looking after the one tank, would it need alot of looking after?

Money is NOT a issue.

Mate, if you can afford the filters and stuff then go for it, thats not what should be concernig you, you really need to think about where your gonna put it, a cubic metre of water weighs 1000kg so if you can find somewhere to seat it then your made, you will proable need solid concrete surface

well what is the thickness of the glass. Im currently building a 4600 tank and the glass i am looking for is 15 - 18mm the tank will be 170cm H x 338cm L x 90cm D

i hope with a good balance of fish ,shrimp, crabs, and plants with 2x 60L filter tanks the tanks should keep its self clean. if not I screw up.....

the two filters would clean most.

you will also need to look for 1 great pump or several small pumps. yo will also need to look into Heating and lighting.
Ive seen for the lighting 1000w sodium bulbs incl transformer for around 400 pounds. a tank the size you are talking about will need several of these.

The heating will need several 300 w heaters in line. or why dont you look at a central heating boiler for this with a electronic water temprature guarge in the tank.
