I currently have:

3 blue gouramis
3 purple passion danios
5 albino corys

I was wondering if I could add some other fish to get some more colour in my tank, but i don't want anything nipping at my gouramis' tails or bullying my corys. Colour would be great if possible (20 gallon tank)

I'd say add a few more danios and the tank is fully stocked. The 3 blue gouramis are going to limit your stock due to their size and adult aggression.

I agree with Onidrase. Danios school. I would only put 1 of the gouramis though. Good luck!

What type of gouramis are the blue gouramis? And do you know the sexes? It's just that if they're Trichogaster trichopterus and you have more than 1 male then I'd be worried about fighting once they're sexually mature. How big are they at the moment?

As for more fish, I think onidrase's idea is good. Upping your number of danios could be nice.

Well theyre currently just under 2 inches each, and there's very little fighting going on between them, they have lots of hiding places, so nothing bad has happened yet. As or danios, an suggestions on types? I'm not a fan of zebras, they're too mainstream for me, an not colourful at all.

All fish are mild tempered when they're young. If the blue gouramis you have are the three spot gouramis, they're notoriously aggressive toward each other and smaller fish when they reach about 4 inches, give or take depending on the fish's personality. It's debatable on if the 3 you have now will get along as adults, but it should work if you have 1 male and 2 females. Males have a long pointed dorsal fin, and females have a short rounded one.

You should get more of the same danios you have now, schooling fish do best in groups of 6 or more of the same species.

They're probably about half their adult size so I'm guessing you've maybe only had them a couple of months? I'd keep an eye on them and make sure you know the sexes for future reference (if you do have trouble).

Personally I always pick a decent sized single species shoal rather than a multi species shoal so would up the number of the danios you currently have. But if you do want different fish then I'd definitely recommen sticking to danios as danios should all recognise eachother from body shape and behaviour enough that they will shoal together even if they're a different species.

Other than maybe upping the danios and possible adding another cory there isn't much more I could suggest as the blue gouramis get to be quite large robust fish (for that size tank) and will really 'fill out' the tank so to speak.

Edit: Beat me to it onidrase

Well there's only 2 spots on either side, not three, so I'm not entirely sure.

That's a bit oxymoronic, but thanks for clearing tht up. I might just sell them back to my LFS if they get too big, or start fighting. Tht's always an option.

I'd do it if you can, people often end up having them in their own tanks because of how moody they are.

Another common variety (though you don't find them in most chain stores) is a pearl gourami, they're prettier (in my opinion) stay smaller, are easier to sex, and are much more peaceful than the three spots.

C101: blue gouramis are sometimes called 3 spot gouramis. They are fish that often achieve a SL of over 3 inches.

I just took a better look at the gouramis and I think I might just have 3 females,
Unless the point on the dorsal fin is pointing towards their tales, in which I may have 2 males. I'll post a picture another day.
