Has anyone seen these in person? I just ordered 2 pairs off of Ebay/USA as I had never seen these before. Not quite like dwarf guppies "Pandas" but more like a Balloon Molly shape but as a guppy.

I was only able to get 2 different color strains, but I thought it would be a fun breeding project if the shape actually breeds true and they are not too hindered by their shape.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Balloon guppies are a man made mutation that deliberately breeds short bodied fishes. Unfortunately by shortening the body, they squish up their insides and it makes it harder for the fish to digest food, swim and lead a normal life.

If you haven't received them yet, see if you can cancel the order because balloon fishes have shorter lives than normal shaped fish.

Thanks for the reply and welcoming me too.

So a different mutation, but like the really dumbo eared or super long finned Dragons, ect, in the fact the fish can not function properly, therefore it shortens their life.

They have already shipped, so no refund. Not 1 of the most $$$ guppy strains right now, but so it's not a complete waste I wonder if I can cross the short body trait out and work from there? I do like both colors and the ribbons.

I had some with the first tuxdo red koi guppies I've purchased. There were two female balloon guppies included. They don't live that long. Like Colin has already mentioend and why.
I myself wouldn't try to breed them. It's officially a deformity that happened and which seemed to breed dominantly. So, making a breed out of it, isn't a challenge. Just like balloon mollies and balloon platies, there's a market for them but it's not helping the health of those fish in any way. And with that bodyshape, I don't even see the beauty of it...
