I've just purchased a Flourescent Shop Light fixture 32watts. I also purchased 2 GE Daylight 32watts,2700 lumens, 6500k. I assume each tube is 32watts??? Am I going to be electrically safe? Is this enough appropiate light for good plant growth...Tank is 55gallons...combination of low and med light plants, but would like to expand into more med light plants.

No, I have two 32watt tubes....64watts total. The box that the actual fixture came in said 32watts so I'm thinking that means that each plug would take a 32watt tube. The light is yellower than I'm used to. The store also has 40watt tubes with 3000k. I'm a little confused about warm and cold lighting...would the 3000k be whiter?

Are you sure they are 2700 lumens and 6500K? Most GE 'daylight' tubes sold in the UK in B&Q/Wilko/Homebase etc. say 2700K which would explain the yellow light.

I just checked ....bulbs are 32watts, 2700lumens, 6500k....T8. The number is F32T8

I would say there's something wrong with them if they are yellow. 6500K on their own should give a greenish light

The lamps you have are 765s which aren't great quality appearance wise.

Take a look at this thread which shows the subtle differences between lights with different CRI and Kelvin ratings and explains what they mean.

Ok...I think I understand this a lot better, now. I think for my purposes, what I have should be fine. I'll do low light, with some easy med light plants. here is the tank with the light on...with flash and without.
