Last fall, after years of searching, I found the perfect boot: The Wandertoes by Joe Nimble. Stupid name, but woweee, these are great boots. As a trail runner and bow hunter, I have some fairly weird demands on a boot, and these really fit the bill. The sole is thin enough that I can feel the trail and the things on it, but just thick enough that I don't get rock bruises and/or frozen feet. They are built so well, of such good-quality leather, that even without a hot, synthetic membrane, they're darn near waterproof. They're light enough that I can use them for winter running shoes. Decent grip on the sole. And they look good enough that I can wear them for dress shoes without feeling like a freak. Also by far the most durable minimalist boot I've ever owned. 3 year warranty.
YES!

So, the other day I went to order a second pair, just so I'd have a backup if these wore out. Guess what? The company has completely changed the design, sticking a huge hunk of clunky foam rubber in the heel. So now they're basically like ever other clunky, thick hiking boot on the market.
NOOOOOO!!!

Why do shoe companies have to mess with perfection? If it ain't broke, QUIT FUPLYING TRYING TO FIX IT!!!

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. You may now return to your regularly scheduled Sunday evening.

If I ever find anything that seems to be good quality and useful, I try to buy as many as possible then and there because this sort of thing always happens.

Companies start out and produce a nice product. Then they either get taken over by another company or they decide to make more profits. The next thing the item changes and it's crap.

If I could go back in time I would buy various items at different times and bring them back to now.

Years ago I could buy thongs to go on my feet (flip flops for the Americans), and they were great. They lasted really well, didn't break, were comfortable, and they were well priced. Now the Chinese companies make them thinner in the heals and they wear out in a couple of months. They also cost double the price of the old style. I don't mind paying more for an item if it's good quality, but when they jack up the price and reduce the quality, that annoys me.

On the topic of shoes, for the last 10 years any shoes you buy here have curved souls. They curve upwards at the heal and toe, so they are almost a rocking shoe. I have no idea why the Chinese think our feet curve up at the heal and toe, but that is how they make shoes now. News Flash stupid designers, humans have flat feet and our toes curl downwards, not up. Needless to say, I don't wear shoes these days because I can't find any that are comfortable.

Could go online and look for that shoe...although I don't shop online lots and lots of people do.
Stupid shoe company.

When a line of clothing is popular and looks stylish--why change the line. Here's a jacket I bought to replace a worn out jacket that I loved the look of. My jacket was over 10 years old and beyond due for replacement. Luckily they still make the exact same line of jacket. This jacket line has been produced since the 80s and people still love the style.

Xtra Tuff boots used to be the best boots you cou could buy and lasted forever when they were made in the USA, but they moved to china and their boots dont last a month before getting a hole in them. Its such a shame.

Received my "Members Only" jacket today. Looks just like the one from 10 years ago which is a good thing. And they included a free matching cloth mask- what a nice gesture. Including a free cloth mask signifies the times we are in and also signifies that wearing mask is the new norm and may be with us for quite awhile longer.

Sorry to stray from topic, but that's a good looking fish in your profile pic ☆

The french shoe maker Phillipe Phillope was the invetor of the thong, hence the name.

:p

When I scroll up and down, the stripes on the shirt look like they are flashing.

Companies are stupid. They change old products that people like. It may just be a small thing that broke, and I want to buy a new one, but I can never find it ever again because the company stopped producing them.

You might want to check on eBay for the old style, there may be some posts...

Only place I could find that still has them is in Australia, and it would end up costing around $300 by the time I paid shipping. They're great, but not THAT great.
