My newest betta Narya died today :-( i got her 2 weeks ago and now she's dead! i can't believe this happened....i came home from work and i looked in the tank and i couldn't find her......i looked on the floor and there she was......all dried up :-( :-( :-( i put her in the tank just incase the came back but nothing so far!!!!!!! i even had a guard on the back so she had a 2 inch space to get out from!!!!!!!!! i luved her soooo much and she was so happy in the 10 gal......she had all her colour was eating flake food! and swimming around normally..........(she was never happy in the small tank)

Oh man I'm so sorry about your betta :-( I lost one of my fish in the first week of having him and he was one of my first 3 fish man did that stink :-( I'm really sorry

Sorry to hear the bad news. 2 inches is a very small hole indeed.
Signed,
Sondan

So sorry to learn about your loss, canis lupis.

It's always sad to lose a pet, especially when it is sudden and unexpected like this one. We all know how you must feel. :-(

Ugh these freak accidents are so horrible. IMO they're even harder than ones you know will happen (sick fish). The same thing didn't happen to me, but if you didn't read my post in Chit Chat, I just lost my little froggie. I vacuumed him up and his throat was smashed, ugh I still feel awful. So at least you're not alone in your mourning. I know this has to be extremely hard, you were so excited about her. *hugs* I know you can get through this, hopefully you can find another lil girl to begin to replace your pretty lady.

Sorry to hear. I guess that's why they keep telling us to put a cover over the tanks of bettas.

thanks everyone 4 your kind words......i have to custom build a piece to cover the back slot of my 10gal (which has a lid!) to betta proof it! i agree with u julie it's awful to have to deal with something freak whereas sickness most times u can try to fix it and if u lose the fish at least u know u tried.......i'm really sorry about your frog! :-( o man.....i'm afraid of sucking up fry with the vaccuum! on a happier note i went into the lfs and they had female betta!!!!!!! i got a blue one who is from the same breeder as Citrus and she is really pretty!

ps the new girl is going in a nice LIDDED tank until i fix up the 10g 4 her!

Well, at least you didn't kill your betta, Lupus. You didn't do it. I killed my betta once while changing the water. The stream of water pouring down hit him hard a few times, and he got smashed. Swam around lopsided, slowly sinking, and eventually, he died... :-(

I lost one of my bettas too. It was my fault either 1 of 2 things happened:

I put my betta in an uncovered bowl on my table to clean the tank and I found my cat standing over it  and he did something that I did not see or I messed up the water change and the temp or ph was not right and it caused to much stress.

Either way it was soo careless of me...I feel so bad he was full of life - spunky and I sent him to fish heaven. It was ALL my fault  I cried.

Now my 2 bettas have: a new heater, brine frozen shrimp, blood worms, a new bio wheel filter , new silk flowers a thermometer and a handsome supply of hikari pellets!!
Heck even my mollies got a new castle!!

And they all have my undivided love and attention !!!

Hi Kattie23 :)

Your fish are so lucky to be with you! Love and attention are the most important things to a fish's well being. With these you will always be aware of its condition and be ready and willing to help it if need be. Your fish will love  you for it.

thanks for the kind words.

I want to add fish to my 10g but I will wait awhile. Maybe in a week or so, I have two little molly fish and they look lonely, so I was going to add two more and then later work up to a school of 6 so they will be happy.
Someone advised me to stick with one type of fish at first until I get more experience.
I want Platies to.

But Its best to take my time.
If there is anything I can learn from my new fish love is Patience!!!

:D
