I'm finally ready to upgrade my betta to a ten gallon but the stand I bought started to wobble and I've returned it. Now I have a half filled tank with an active filter and heater sitting on the floor. Obviously I can't put my betta in a cycled tank sitting on the floor but a friend at work suggested metal shelving would work as he uses it for his lizard tanks and the one I'm looking at says it can hold over 300 pounds per shelf. This would also allow for more storage space if I used it. Here is the shelf I'm looking at.

The tank is an aqueon glass ten gallon and the shelf has more than enough space to hold it but I've never used a metal shelf and I am hesitant. I am aware that the tank is going to be at least 80 pounds of water+ 10 pounds weight of the tank+15 pound of gravel+ an additional ten for the heater/filter/decor. The only other metal stands near me are either too large or far too expensive. Any advice on this? I really want to upgrade him soon but the stupid stand pooting out has set me back :/

I use a metal stand for my 5 gallon and it works pretty well only thing I hate about it is when I put the air pump on the metal it vibrates the entire tank and metal stand and makes a lot of noise.

It should hold the tank if it says it holds 300 lbs.

I usually just buy cheap small dressers from goodwill stores, 10 gallon is not that heavy. I ask my 240 lb friend to stand on the dresser to see if holds steady.

I had a 50 gallon tank sit on a big dresser for years.

I honestly wouldn't use a metal rack for a ten gallon. As like snailpocolypse, I did have a 5 gallon on one. But I won't do a ten. For one thing, it's on the top. The possibility of tipping could be easier. But mostly it's the thin wires of the shelves themselves I would worry about. They are welded together. The weight limit is meant to be spread out over the entirety of the shelf, not just where the tank would be sitting. Just my opinion though as I do have one of these. (My friend uses these for frog tanks and she doesn't think a ten with water and such in it would be a good idea either.)

But another suggestion, if you were into a little diy building, is use 2x4s. I plan to do this instead of the metal shelf. Lol. Not expensive, you can get the wood cut to size, and for that small it won't be hard to put together.
