I am having so much fun watching my little molly fry grow. We weren't sure who the mother was when they were born--there were three females--2 balloons and one silver molly. But now I'm starting to think we have some little balloon fry! It's amazing how they develope their gills, etec., in miniature....The 3rd fry is very tiny but has lots of heart--so we're hoping we'll be able to watch this one mature, too. He's growing very slowly compared to the other two. But we love and delight in them all and they all seem to get along with our barbs in the tank, too.

Jusst wanted to "kvell" as we say in YIDDISH--"Rave"...

Love to all,
Wendy :band: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: d:D  :D

if they are balloon mollies, then theres a chance they will be deformed.
the way they get balloon mollies is to breed them so they are deformed and look like a balloon, so there is a chance it will be deformed in a different way. its all because they weaken the fish making it deformed. some are even sterile

Ahhh, a fellow excited fry person!

I just had my first batch of platy fry about a month ago...what a surprise! I have delighted in watching them grow for the last month, and now I have more that were born a few days ago. So exciting!

congrats on the fry, can you post Photos of their developement, i have never seen baloon mollie fry develope before ?

I just got loaded with molly fry too - mine are lyretails because I chose the smallest mollies I could and the sailfins were huge. I got about 24 out in the morning and by the time I came back the platies had eaten the rest :(

its amazing how fast they can become fishfood :/

Hi-

The fry continue to grow--sorry to take so long to get back to this, but I had an absessed tooth last week (dental surgery)...and frankly, I was bummed out by the first response I got to my posting--predicting nothing more than deformed molly fry.

I still think at least one of them is a balloon--has that rounded curved shape (no deformities there)--the other one possibly, too.

We're a little bogged down these days as we're unpacking from a recent move, but I'll see what I can do to get some pix asap.

Thanks for delighting in the fry with me! Wow--what a trip!

Warmly,
Wendy   :fish: :fish:

the joys of fish breeding...

Dont take the first comment personally, eveyone will have their own opinion how you take it is your choosing. If I were you I would look foward 2 watching your new fry grow what ever the out come . KEEP SMILING :p

One of my guppies gave birth about 9 weeks ago. One of the fry had a deformed tail, but as he grew so did it. His tail is perfectly normal now :)
