Hey, I have a 15G Hex tank which has cycled.

It is well planted and has 6 Neons and a baby plec in there (Dont worry when he grows he's going, before I get people crying him)

I want a feature fish in there and a fighter is my fish choice.

Do you think it would be okay to introduce a male? I know their parcial to a neon from time to time but I think it would love my aquarium. My tank has been cycled for a week or so and all inhabitants are looking lively and healthy.

What you think?

Please no comment on Plec!

no you cant have one in there with neons they will bite the bettas fins.
soz

try one and see how they get on. Not all neons nip......

Or failing that how about a hand full of females? You'd be surprised at how lovely they can be.

Also think about short finned male.

I would not mix neons and bettas. My betta, Jericho was in a community tank at Walmart with neons when I found him. His tail and dorsal fin were shredded and the neons would not give him any peace (he would have probably been better off in a cup). I brought him home and (before I realized I should have quarantined him) put him in my community tank. It was touch and go there for a few days. He would go to the top for air, but would not eat and would hide from the other fish. It was so sad. After a few days of not being constantly nipped he started to come out and now he loves to show off and gets along great with my other fish. :)

It depends on the neons, really. They might nip, they might not. You can try it, but have a 1g ready in case.

Hmm...
wouldn't the betta be fasciniated by the bright colors darting around?

I'd think the betta would go after the neons.
But that's just my thought. I have no experience with it.

with all my bettas includein female doesnt matter what colour u get the neons always nip them

I've successfully had neons with a male betta in a 10 gallon and I have 12 female bettas in my 120 gallon with 5 neons. My neons spend too much time pecking at each other to really pay attention to anyone else. :p

But that does not mean they will not nip your betta. They are known to nip, some do and some don't. I would do it if I had a little extra money to have to buy a smaller tank like a 2 gallon just incase the neons nip at the betta.
