i goty a zebra, a little blue and yellowish orange one, im thinking its female because its really mellow and seems afraid of all the other fish. but how would i be able to tell to make sure.

the only sure way is to vent the fish. venting does take practice. you can guesstimate the sex of some cichlids that have no male/female color variations by egg spots or their fins. you might find a lfs that has a knowledgeable person who is able to effectively vent the fish for you.

a male cichlid will have none or maybe even one or to egg spots on its fin

a female will have multiple egg spots on its fin

what is male to female ratio?

It ias best to keep at least three female for every male of the same or similar species in a mbuna tank

it has 2 spots on its tail so i think its a guy, but i dont think its a zebra. theres only 1 for now but im getting more w/in the next 2 weeks. when i get my bigger tank.
