Ive just picked up a lovely shoal of Ruby barbs which at the moment are a lovely yellow/silver colour with dark stripes. I know as they age the males will get darker and the females will stay a silver colour, does anyone know a way to determine the gender at this age?

I don't want I have too many males on my group and would like to spot any potential issues at this stage before they get older and more aggressive.

There is no real way to tell the sex, if they are that small. The best you can do is add more to the group and hope for the best. Really ruby barbs are one of the lesser aggressive of the barbs available, so you shouldn't have any real problems with them.
