Hi
I got some new pygmy corys today after it was suggested for my tank and I was woundeding how do you tell what gender they are they are about an inch so nearly fully or if not fully grown and I would like to breed them not straight away but in a few month perhaps

I will also upload a picture of them ASAP :)

Thanks in advance :)

I believe the sexing of pygmy cories is to do with their appearance from above, but I'm not entirely sure what. I did read somethig about it a while back. I think it was that the females look slightly rounder, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

I saw that tip, but it's impossible to look as they don't stay still long enough

Ha I know one reason is because they are new but mine flew for anything lol yeh I read the looking over the top too some where I just didn't know if there was any other way :)

Most cories including pygmies can be sexed from above, larger broader ones are more than likely females, smaller slender ones are probably males. :good:

Kul kul I just got 5 yesterday what are the chances I will have at least one male and one female?

Well, I guess you'd have to be pretty unlucky if all five of them were the same gender if they were picked out at random. You must surely have a male and a female there :good:
