severum compatability

I am really desperate to know what fish are compatable with my severum, I have tried many and many are either too aggressive or too wimpy.
I'd like to know if there are any large colourful fish that are compatible with it.

Anything seen as a competitor will lead to problems. Severums are mid level dwellers so the safest thing is to stay away from these types as tankmates. Other cichlids are automatically seen as a competitor.

I'd stick to bottom feeders, a small shoal of clown loaches or catfish, and top dwellers large enough not to be taken as food - giant danios or rainbowfish. Much of it depends on the dimensions of the tank.
