ok as title states need a bit of help ! lol bought Hydor turbo air pump an Ario 1 to be precise

Set it up as per manual instructions suckered all the wires to the glass burried the wee airpump bit not completely just enough so it stays put ! Cut air lining 4cm so it can hang down the back...Find plug eventually down the back of the tank plug it in ....And SFA lol

Anyone help?

:D

i had a wee play about with it pulled it back out the sand turned it upside down and i did get bubbles!!! Then it died again it was sort of vibrating in my hand when there wasn't any bubbles so i was assuming this was the propellor doing it's business

But it's since died again

Can get pic's just to see if i have done it correctly...Normally leave all this stuff to the bf but i wanted to try it myself this time ...Was obviously not meant to be! :(
lol

played with that bit tooturn itso you can see the wee hole turn it so you can't took it off completely1

Still nothing

Is it common for them not to work brand new ? or have i just been unlucky and got a faultyone
Pic's cominglol

Try raising the outlet of the air pump to within a few inches from below the water level.... Work now?

That thing looks like a venturi power head to me, not an air pump.

'Air pumps' don't normally live IN the tank.... only the hose & outlet go into the tank, pump usually OUTSIDE.

Crikey, I could be miles off here. I just don't get what I'm looking at there. Tell us make / model / website link.

Andy

OK, IF it is a venturi pump, Move the AIR PUMP thing (which won't be pumping air, it will be pumping water BTW) up so that it is a few inches below the surface of the water, so that it's stuck to the side of the tank such that the air hose (hose with the blue thing on the end) feed down to the pump (not down & up if you get my drift).

Andy

o < Blue thing on end of air hose
|
|< air hose
|
|------ <water level
|
| few inches gap to water surface above
|
[]= <pump & outlet

Verturi effect = when water is pumped, low pressure at point where air hose joins pump. This effect sucks air down the hose & it gets mixed with the water and comes out of the pump outlet.

Just saw your post above...

Ario air pumps are submersible, venturi-style pumps that can be positioned beneath the gravel bed

Ha, I'm not going daft!

Yep, move it up close to the water surface & open the blue thing to max opening (twist it).

Andy

still nothing ! I'm thinkin itcould be the motor thats screwed if i blow down the inlet tube i do get bubbles coming out...But not the same place as they were when it was working !

It does state on the bottom of it that itis a hydor ario 1

Hmmm.....

OK, regardless of anything IT SHOULD BE PUMPING WATER at the very least... Is it?

Is there sucktion at the inlet, flow out of the top of the thing?

Andy

nope i tested that too ! stuck my finger over it to see if it would try and sook my finger in (like a hoover) but nah nothing ! Think i'm going to take it out and take it apart then but it back together again !

Will let you know on the outcome !

Thanks again :D
