Well, unfortunatly one of my bettas (red crowntail :() jumped from his tank earlier this week. This obviously frees up one of my smaller tanks (with a bit of re-jigging). I would like to make my 9G high "half hex" tank into a dwarf puffer tank.

I was thinking maybe piling up some rocks to make a cave system at the bottom with some open swimming place above.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Ben

In 9g, I'd say you could squeeze two dwarfs, as long as you're lucky and get docile individuals, you'll need caves (which you already know) and something to break up the fish's line of sight, such as real or fake plants.
the tank must have a filter and a sand substrate is preferable.
Feed small meaty foods such as bloodworm, daphnia and brine shrimp.

They may also take baby earthworms, chopped cockle, mussel & prawn.
Also live ghost shrimp (rivershrimp) if you can get them, and of course snails and snail hatchlings are a must at least occasionaly.

You could also add one of your small bristlenoses for algae & janitor duties.

...Bunjiweb, with all due respect, this question. or variations on it gets asked at least twice a month, and I for one am getting tired of answering it over and over again.

Sorry to sound snappy, but I just wish people would use the 'search' button before asking questions.

No offence meant.

I already did search, I looked through a few previous ones of you saying use the search function before (ironic? :p).... I couldnt really find any good answers though, and so thought I may aswell start a thread of my own as 9G and the tank shape are quite unique......

I have plenty of lives snails i can feed along with brineshrimp or whatever. I was thinking of going without plants, Might see if i can get some twigs or something interesting like that....

I've even done the search for you: [all dwarf puffer posts]
