what type of ornaments/decoratoins/plants for a guppy tank used for breeding?

ex:planted, rocks, caves etc.

Hello.

In a breeding tank for Guppies there is usually no decoration etc.
This makes it much easier to clean the tank.

In a tank in which the adult females get their babies there should be stuff for them to hide like fine plants because often guppies eat their own babies.

hiya, like BuntbarschXXL says, there arent usually any ornaments or decorations, as there isnt any real need for them.

the only thing i will say, is that if you are planning on keeping the fry in their own tank, dont use gravel, if you need a covering for the floor of the tank, use aquarium sand, as this wont kill the fry when they push their way into it to hide.

as its a sad, but often forgotten thing, that guppy fry, (or any other type of livebearer fry for that matter) like to keep hidden away from the adults when theyve seen their lil brothers and sisters get eaten by mum, or other tank mates!

Hope you find this useful!

Id also reccomend reading Guppylover's post that tells you loads of things abt guppy fry, how 2 look after them, how 2 sex them, everything you need to know really!!

If you're keeping fry with adults in one tank, get a lot of plants like java moss. Otherwise, a bare tank is fine.

My setup consists of all bare bottomed 10g tanks. Sponge filters in each with a largel clump of java moss. Thats it, nothing more, nothing less. Bare bottomed tanks are far easier to keep clean. Gravel also traps detritus and when your young fry hang to the bottom they can succumb to fungal infections because of this. Sponge filters insure that no fry are killed by the filters and also provide a source of food for young fry. The java moss helps keep the water cleaner (nitrate removal; albeit slowly), provides a place for fry to hide, and also provides a source of food.
