Serpent Starfish Help

Hi I have a black serpent starfish and I have had him for some time now and today I noticed him puff up and throw out this reddish purple stuff is he okay or should I worry ?Please help

Cant be sure for definate but starfish only have one opening.. food comes in and the waste goes out You might just be seeing last nights dinner I would watch it closely however for signs of deterioration.
