Hi Everyone

I have just bought ten of these fish for my tank.
I have read a bit about them in books and on the internet.
Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with these fish?

Thanks :)

The common Characins, without need to dislay specific sexual dimorphism, can be sexed by body form alone. Females, when mature are noticeably deeper when viewed from the side and wider when viewed from above, or front/back.

In addition, typically, females are less colourful, and exhibit less elaborate finnage then males. Females are often slightly larger.

I have a school of 6 in my tank and am very happy with them, as they are very active fish. They are known though to be fish nippers, but as long as your school is big enough, they mostly concentrate their agression on their own kind. I keep them with gouramis (dwarfs and pearls).

I have 5 of them and they are very pretty and hardy. They can be fin nippers though, so just be careful if your putting them in a community tank. Good luck :good:

Glad you caught them all. Hope it has restored the peace in your tank.
