got told these would be ok for my community tank and now they are nippin at my gouramis tails, shall i get em out again or will they settle down ?

I have 6 and they don't fin nip, maybe my others aren't tasty enough - An Angel, 3 Clown Loach, 4 ottos and one final old retired glowlight (I think he'll live forever).

I do however have a well planted tank.

You didn't mention which species of gourami you have (bettas are gouramies - so are giant (30") osphronemus gouramies... so are paradisefish and dwarf gouramies and licorice gouramies etc - you get the idea :p) but a good number are quite prone to being nipped because they often have long fins and aren't too active. As such, serpaes realy don't make good tankmates for them but there are quite a few other tetras that look simialr but won't nip. My favourites are black phantom tetras but you may also like the look of red phantom tetras or pristellas.
