Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying "Sera co2 start" for my (quite planted) tank (Juwel Rekord 60). It is a small reactor + tablets. So I would appreciate any thoughts and comments about that product. Do I really need CO2 enrichment in my tank? As I know it is useful when one has 2WPG, in my case I have 15W + reflector, so , it is approximately almost 2wpg :)))

Thanks for any replys.

i agree i use them in all my tanks and you dont have to buy the official refills. much cheaper and you can vary the output by the ammount of yeast you put in. not exactly controlled but at least you can effect it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I could not find "Nutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System" anywhere here (in the Netherlands) in the shops, or online shops with cheap shipment. But there is something similar, as I understood: "CO2 Bio System by Red Sea" here

The CO2 Bio-Generator system is a low cost, easy to use, complete CO2 infusion system for aquariums up to 40 gallons (160 litres).

This simple and reliable system generates CO2 by a pH buffered natural fermentation process providing an almost constant supply of CO2 for approximately 1 month.

The CO2 is diffused in the aquarium with a venturi pump injector that breaks up the CO2 into very fine bubbles. The advanced design of Red Sea's venturi allows the pump to be placed at the bottom of most aquariums providing the full depth of the aquarium for diffusion of the CO2 in the water. Comes with container that sits outside the aquarium inside your stand and then the electric pump with built in diffusor plugs into a timer (not included). Also includes a mixture supply that will last one month

Connection of the pump to a timer will reduce the effectiveness of the system at night, when CO2 is not used by plants.

Anyway, are tablets are really so bad, or that systems are really better? The price difference is not so big.
