maybe im wrong but i thought birchirds would eat like just about everything in ur tank

well, I hope you're talking about the fish in your 55 because a bichir would outgrow a 10 gallon tank. If so, the fish I'd be worried about are the 2 zebra danios. if you buy the bichir small, he'd still be able to eat the danios pretty quickly, but it would be a long time before he'd be able to eat the rest of your fish. :) even at full size the only other fish I'd be worried about are the cories, and I'm not completely sure a senegalus would be able to eat them even at full size. Just depends on exactly how large those cory species grow. :)

Not a good mix.

Most of your fish would become meals to a full grown (or even a decent size) senegal.
The corys would be especially a problem. If it trys to eat a cory, the cory will lodge in its throat using the spines on its fins, killing both fish.

so basicly it would eat everything in his tank except his Rt :sly:

Edit: God damnit i need to proof read, spelling error

damn. unfortunately the cories only get to 3" and i have no where to move them. I would move the zebra danios to the 10. There probly arent any "peaceful" bichirs are there.

Also the red tailed shark may go for it, thats wot happend to me and i had to get rid of rts

Bichirs are peacefull, but they are also predatory, the two do not nessesarily mean the same thing.

thats true. kinda like lionfish. They're peaceful but will eat anythign that can fit in its mouth.

It depends on the birchir, i kept a youngster with corries for a year and it didnt touch em, then i added a young corry and it tried to eat them all, i ended up removing the birchir for its own good

Personally, I think only the danios would be at risk. I have 6 bichirs in my 150 gallon and I also have 2 very small zebra loaches. at least 4 of the bichirs are certainly large enough to eat the loaches yet they don't bother them. rainbows get to a decent size and they are very quick so I don't think they'd ever be at risk. if the bichir is bought small enough I think the cories would be fine as well. Move the danios, and imo you'd be fine. :)

Loaches are fast, really fast, and bichirs aren't exactly built for extreme speed and accuracy when catching fish (loaches specifically, being very slender, and nocturnal, like bichirs) As it's been said the platy, cories and zebras would eventually be eaten, although the cories could cause problems on the way down :)

instead of getting a new fish you might be better served to fill out the schools of your current fish, 6 is not enought for a school, but its enought to keep the fish from stressing too much, 2 ZD's is way to few
