I bought two plecos. I was told they were a male and female common brislenose pleco. I have my doubts one of them is a common bristlenose pleco. I think it is a common pleco. What do the people on this forum think... picture below. If its the case of being a common pleco I only have a 30 gallon. So I can't keep this fish for long.

Hi, I was sold a Common which should have been a Bristlenose. My lfs offered to have it back, yours should too. I kept mine and bought a bigger tank for it but if you specifically want a Bristlenose that isn't really a solution for you. Hope you can return it if it is the wrong fish. :)

I have a male bristlenose and even though he's pretty small right now (only an inch and half), you definately see the bristles. I went back to my LFS to look at getting a female and they looked like common plecos. I asked and they said females don't have bristles. :dunno:

By the way, I can't see your pic.

Hi,

It certainly looks different to my female bristllenose, how big is it? Have you looked on www.planetcatfish.com in the catelogue?

Emma :)

Yes, I looked in planetcatfish. Thats why I have my doubts. The plec in the pic is 1" to 2" long. Ah f**k it! God damn LFS! The other pleco is brown with yellow spots and looks like most of the pics I've seen of a common brislenose pleco.
